Dear Cinema Pioneers,

Sadly Village veteran and long time Cinema Pioneer Frank Westaway passed away late last week.

After many years working for the ABC, Frank commenced doing projection shifts for Village drive-ins and suburban twin cinemas. He spent some time at Boronia Twin and also worked at Frankston Twin, Knox Twin and Clayton and Croydon drive-ins among others.

Frank transitioned to a head office role at Village Head Office at 206 Bourke St. Here he looked after all property matters relating to the building that included the Village City Centre. Later he took on a group purchasing role where he managed telecommunications and was responsible for facilities management.

After retirement from Village Frank was kept busy in his role as a Justice Of The Peace.

Frank was a much loved colleague to all who worked with him over the years at Village. Whenever I had a question about a matter that I directed to Frank his response was always the same, “Leave it to me”. This summed up his can-do attitude to both work and in life.

Please join with me in sending our sincerest condolences to Frank’s wife Jean and family.

The Funeral Service for Frank will be held on Friday Oct 27 at 10:30 am. in St Peter Julian Eymard Catholic Church, 240 Hull Road, Mooroolbark.

Kind regards,
David Kilderry
