JOHN COLEMAN – 2026 QUEENSLAND CINEMA PIONEER OF THE YEAR
Queensland Cinema Pioneer for this year, John Coleman, has always had a love for electronics and machinery.
He started his apprenticeship in 1976 as a Radio & TV mechanic and then moved on to Entertainment Services as a Cinema technician in 1982.
In 1984 John started his own company, Arana Electronics but then returned to Entertainment Services in 1986 where he trained in IMAX technology.
In 1995 John left Entertainment Services and started as a Projectionist at the Eldorado Cinema.
Soon after John started his own company with 2 partners – Aus-wide Cinema and Theatre Supplies.
Ten years later in 2005 John started his own company, Australian Theatre Supplies and, over 20 years later he is busier than ever!
When John isn’t working he and his wife, Marie, love travelling and have recently returned from a European holiday.
